For the time being, you can find me being Pollyannaish

here

In theory daily. We shall see.

Since that is supposed to be being about being positive, perhaps I will pop in here just to rant. But that would be so wrong.

Happy New Year!

Blip

That's all this past month was. Just a blip and a blur, along with some whirring and humming and a bit of late night muttering.

And a tiny bit of crashing and banging, because if they insist on constantly tearing down old buildings in our neighbourhood, we will of course go see them. Which leads one small boy to constantly ask, "when will they come knock down our house?"

For those of you unfamiliar with blog etiquette, it is very important to update your blog late at night, especially if you have a month to catch up on. Most especially if you are traveling in the morning, and have to wake your children at 4 a.m. It's just a fact.

Though I am skating loops around any topic of any consequence, I will pause to mention we have been immersing ourselves in all the usual winter shenanigans. There has been skiing, skating (not always with 10cm of snow on the ice, though that was fun), snowman making and of course epic bundling, unbundling and having to pee once bundled.

Somebody turned 4! during our hiatus. 4! He wanted a moon cake. I made one, we ate it, and we forgot to take a picture. Our bellies remember it though.

I like to think that if I didn't just write spur-of-the-moment updates when I'm too tired to brush my teeth so I can go to bed, they would be well structured and you know, logical, readable. though I keep having that theory about my cooking, my parenting, my sewing, and I'm still just wingin' it.

Though, thanks to a parcel from Markus, I now have a plan for next year's gingerbread encampment. Though this was fun, and messy, it was also super crooked.

I also have nebulous, half-baked plans for a different type of blog for next year. I'd like to go back to the post every day format, but I also want some interactive type feedback. Since I am a strange ostrich/luddite hybrid, I will need my brilliant and helpful sister to help me achieve this. Stay tuned....

In the meantime, my small boys who love twinkly lights are in seventh heaven with this season of sparkle.

And off to bed I go. It's fabulous to be able to be so cavalier about sleep - because now, if I go to bed 5 hours before I have to wake up, I actually get to sleep for 5 hours! A year ago, that would have been winning the lottery.

"The moon is high, the sea is deep, we rock and rock and rock to sleep"

Thanks, Sandra Boynton, for permeating my brain despite being out of the rotation for months now.
