Naked Baby Alert!

It's astonishing how much faster he can move when he's naked.

crawlingnaked.jpg

But even when fettered by a diaper, he can make his way into dark corners at reasonable speed. As long as there is a bicycle there to play with, that is.

New Toys

Tired of the stacking cups, Sebastien rummages around in the corner and finds himself a good old-fashioned bag of potatoes to play with. They're local, even.

No More Pencils, No More Books!

No more students' dirty looks! School is out and Papa is home for the summer.

summerfun.jpg

Hooray!

And a close-up just for fun.

grass.jpg

And for those of you wondering why there are some many photos of Sebbie in this particular pose - it's because Sebastien is obsessed with the camera strap, and will crawl and slither across great expanses of floor, grass, bed of nails or carpet to get it. Okay, maybe not the bed of nails. And if the camera weren't quite so swanky, maybe would let him gum it and maul it and puke on it to his heart's content, but then there would be no more blog, and that would be sad.

Explorations

Sebastien returns from an (unsuccessful) foray to the pantry. He found nothing there that was worth knocking over or putting in his mouth, oddly enough.

pantry.jpg

And then Sebastien explored the properties of transparent plastic. Very curious. I can touch it, but I can't grab it. Must pet it for hours.

Rainy Day Play

We've had a lot of rain these last few weeks. We don't even bother putting the toys away anymore.

No Shirt, No Shoes

But Sebastien still gets service at this restaurant. At least he has his pants on.

Having an in with the management helps.

The Sunday Show

Oh, it's all just fun and games around here. Sebbie wigglin' all over the floor...

Samantha showing off her one-ball juggling moves.

Sebbie can juggle one ball too, but he does it with his mouth. He's been practising for months!

Happy Trails

Little Sebs had his first outing in the backpack today. He's not much of a load to shoulder yet, but getting heavier every day.

happytrails.jpg

He seemed to enjoy the experience. So much in fact, that he gave us a big toothy grin.

twoteeth.jpg

Cute little chompers. Sharp, too!

On the Move

Sebastien is slithering his way across the toy-strewn carpet these days.

slither.jpg

It just takes a little elbow grease and a whole lot of determination.

I Yam what I Yam

Phooey. Who wants this boring mushed up baby food?

sweetpotatopie.jpg

Sebastien makes a lunge for the good stuff. Too bad he's strapped into that highchair thingy.

Laundry Time.

We're not sure which cycle to wash him on...

...certainly not "delicate."

Boundaries

Sebastien is finding new ways to play with the same old toys. For instance, here he is exploring the downstairs of the exersaucer. Also makes an excellent barf repository.

And then, just to liven things up, Sebasiten ventures off the carpet, all by himself.

The King and I

Not only is Sebastien the little king around here, he also gets to be the conductor. Some boys have all the luck.

Ambition

Sebastien wants to pick his sleeper for the night out of the laundry himself.

With limited success. But he gets points for effort!

Six Months!

Now that Sebbie is six months old, he has to start doing chores. His Saturday chore is to re-organize the facecloths. He prefers to do this naked.

chores.jpg

Actually, what he really prefers is to lounge around in friendly arms chewing on something. Maybe the chores can wait a few years.

The Little Drummer Boy

drummer.jpg

Pa-Rum-Pum-Pum-Pum.

In other news, Sebastien absolutely will not keep a hat on his head, wanting to flaunt his disregard of the UV index with his bare little blond head. We thought maybe he would be amenable to an alternate form of head gear.

pantsonhead.jpg

Then again, maybe not.

Lunch at Rita's

Sebastien and his Mama had lunch at Rita's today, along with the baby in Rita's belly.

rita.jpg

The adults got sandwiches and lentil salad, Sebastien got a cracker wrapper. Yum. Okay, okay, he got the crackers too.

wrapper.jpg

And then we introduced Sebastien to someone his own size. Funny, I thought they'd get along.

What a great day.

Fun in the Sun(room)

Playing and eating, what else is there really in the life of a six-month old?
(Certainly not a whole lot of sleeping...)

Aaaaand...we're Back!

messy.jpg

He's refusing to eat in his highchair, and eschewing bibs and face-wiping as much as he can...he's teething, he has a cold, and at time of exposure, has been awake for about 6 hours. No wonder he doesn't want his picture taken.

If only couches were big enough for adults to share them like this...

Hiatus

Okay, we're not really on hiatus. (Though I remember when Magnum P.I. went on hiatus once when I was a youngster, and thought that was really strange. But then, I thought hiatus was something like a safari. And it could be. But we're not doing that, either).
Somebody just forgot to take a picture yesterday, but have no fear, there is a picture of Sebastien (and Scotty!) out in the e-sphere somewhere, and as soon as I get my greedy little mouse on it, I will post it.

Sincerely,

Sebastien's Mama

As promised:

It's challenging going out for lunch with rambunctious baby boys...and this is before they are crawling!

Funny how the babies' heads look bigger than Ollie's...
Thanks Ruthie, for the pictures!

Hm. We should take this box where ever we go. So much more than just a cardboard box. (And now, a certain Corey Hart song is running through my head...)

Hits and Misses

leopard.jpg

Well, maybe the leopard print chair at Winners won't be making it into our househould, judging by Sebbie's reaction (well, even if he'd loved it, it probably wouldn't have come home with us).

bowler.jpg

The size XXXL 100% wool bowler hat, on the other hand, is beloved. Almost as much as Sebastien's real favourite toy - any piece of paper.

Early Literacy

Gruel to be Kind

Most of the time, Sebastien gets treated like a little king around here. Except at breakfast; everybody else gets waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, and Sebastien just gets rice gruel. Ugh.

No wonder he looks less than excited.

Decluttering the living room was the impetus behind turning the sunroom into a playroom for Sebastien. It makes for a great photo studio too.

Sweet Nothings

Martha must be whispering something sweet into Sebastien's ear. Either that or she's blowing raspberries into it. Raspberries are pretty sweet.
