That's what Scotty wore on our most recent outing, and that's what colour the leaves where. What a coordinated kid. But even Sebbie had a green sweater on, this time.

Mama's favourite Doucets. Sebbie looks like he's cooking up some devious plan...

Like taking off with Scotty at breakneck speed. Actually, Sebbie's speed is more like skinned-knee speed. We're not sorry that shorts season is over.

We used to go to the river to admire...to contemplate...to get lost in the sound of the rushing water...Now we go to throw sticks (and to keep little boys from falling in the rushing water).

Sebbie finally catches up to Scotty in height! The tall Papa he's riding on helps a bit, but the helmet is definitely the clincher. No wonder we never leave home without it.

And for a parting shot - the beautiful woods this time of year.
Well, first we hopped on a freight train...

No, not really. But I took this little train fanatic to see the life-size version of his favourite toy, and he was a bit intimidated. This was as close as he would venture, even though he had his helmet on!

And then a nice snack on Mission Island, with a view to the giant (Nana Boo!Joo! in toddler speak).

And then we took our lunch for a walk. We even found some late raspberries, but they were scarfed down faster than the shutter speed by one small barracuda.
Beautiful fall days must not be wasted.

Ruthie put Scotty in a green shirt with trees on it for our walk in the woods. I don't think she'll be doing that again...

Ahhh, September. Too bad all the teachers had to go back to work though. We miss them!
More pics from our lovely August trip to Amogla, where there is plenty of space for little legs to stretch. It's always hard to leave, and always nice to go back.

"Allo Kitty!" And there was much petting.

Most people love the view of Rock Lake from above. Sebbie would just rather not look. He liked climbing around on the rocks, though, and no one was too unhappy that he wasn't enamoured with the edge.

And speaking of...he also didn't think his designated seat on the floor of a leaky canoe was worthy of his bum. But hey, we weren't going far, this worked too.

But what he did love: a visit to the McKenzie's, where they have cows! trucks! tractors! dogs! (but not so much the puppies) chickens! and best of all....a pile of gravel! It's kid heaven.
And here's a little find-the-baby puzzle:
Easy:

Not quite so easy:

If you can see him, give yourself a gold star. Or a pat on the back. We're not picky.

And for a finale, something Sebbie did find worthy of his bum: Lake Superior!
Here it is September, so it's high time to post a few pics from August. And the embarassing truth - we haven't taken a single pic of Sebbie since then...
But he hasn't changed much.

Kids love puppies, right? Apparently not two day old puppies. Though once Sebbie found the puppy's ears, he was intrigued. Probably not unlike how some people feel about newborn babies (except for the ear thing...).

This is Sebbie's friend Coco. Short for Cocorico!, which is what a rooster says in French. If it were a German rooster, his name would be Kiki. Short for Kikeriki! He's entirely uninterested in what an English-speaking rooster might say. Which is not to say he's exposed to much German, except for rooster speak and the occasional lullaby.
Maybe now we'll go take a picture of him, for a change. We'll post it next year sometime.
