It's always nice when a new holiday appears in your year. It's even better when the only auntie comes for a visit!

But every day is a good day for jam eating. Especially when it contributes to your ever evolving artwork.

And speaking of art, Sebastien has elevated crokinole to an artform. It's a bit like curling, and some of the players are made of Lego. Good old Legoman, he's never far away.

Sebastien is starting to make some headway in his culinary forays with the butter knife. He has graduated to raw potatoes!

And once the prep work is done, he single handedly makes dishes soup ( he prefers dump truck soup, but it's hard to fit the dump truck on the ladle. How did we get such a truck obsessed child? Certainly not from spending half of our summer walking by construction sites. Not that. And speaking of inexplicable, this hideous kitchen with it's crazy-making wallpaper is appearing way more than my ego deems acceptable. But we do spend an awful lot of time making food).

Like quarktaschen! Manifested by Hanna, aided by Seb. He loved the dough, wolfed down the filling - but the warm, finished, iced product? No thank you. Perhaps the thrill was gone.

And after all that visiting and eating and fun-having, Sebbie was tired. All he wanted to do was play dodo - but don't be fooled - it's all just a ruse.
We've survived some January blah time, what with weeks and weeks of temperatures that preclude outdoor play for the small one, and various colds and fevers snaking their way through the house. February has started off with much more of a hurrah (-14 today already - it's like a heat wave!)

But in the meantime, little Seb is always happy to do some drawing. Note the toys behind him - if it doesn't have wheels, or draw on paper, he's not interested. Except for Ugly Kitty. He kind of likes her. And Legoman, of course.

And every now and then when the temperature picks up into the low teens, we scoot out for a ski, even if it's an after work sunset cookies at the chalet for supper kind of ski.

We figured after weeks of watching us slide around with sticks on our feet, maybe Sebbie wanted to try too. And the skis say "Snow Party" on them - how neat is that? These are the last of the pre-Sebbie baby shower gifts to be put into use.

And yes, we did take them outside - they're just hard to see under the new fluffy snow. And more importantly, we took them outside at Sleeping Giant Provincial Park, where you can basically ski out the door of the cabin, which is heaven.

Or you can ski to the parking lot and wipe the snow off of random strangers' cars. That's fun too.

Some people like to ski onto the lake (not the BIG lake, though) and dig for polar bears and seals (apparently they live under the ice of small inland lakes. Who knew?)

Since we dragged the Chariot all the way out there, we thought we'd use it. It's kind of hard to capture the peacefulness and beauty of the place if taking pictures while actually skiing...

It's also hard to capture the grace and beauty of a 30 week pregnant person skiing, though that might be due to a definite shortage of gracefulness.
And one happy boy, mainly because Legoman got to come skiing with him.
